In August of 2004 Charlotte County suffered severe damage from the touchdown Hurricane Charley, but the area has show great resilience and foresight in rebuilding the community. After the hurricane, the city seized the opportunity to start anew and replaced some of the damaged buildings with brand new stores and cafes. In addition, property values have been rising and the public school system is highly rated. On top of the many community benefits, Charlotte County boasts marvelous beaches and wildlife, and the only incorporated city in Charlotte County, Punta Gorda, sits on a peninsula with Charlotte Harbor on one side and the Peace River on the other. The abundance of waterfront has led to a number of wonderful luxury homes on the water, and the entire area is a boater’s paradise. Punta Gorda has consistently been ranked as one of the top places in the United States to own a business, and with the area’s rebirth in full swing Charlotte County is sure to become one of the most beautiful and sought-after luxury destinations in Florida.
